Albert Okumagba

Albert Egbaroghene Okumagba
Chairman

Albert Okumagba is the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of BGL Plc. He is also the Chairman of BGL Securities Limited, BGL Asset Management Limited, BGL Private Equity Limited, I-skill Limited, and Immersion Marketing Strategies (IMS) Limited. Prior to joining BGL he was Manager and Head of Mergers and Acquisitions at Centre-Point Bank Plc (now Unity Bank Plc). During his career at Centre-Point, Mr. Okumagba managed portfolios in Corporate Banking, Multilateral Agency Credits and traded on the floors of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on behalf of Centre-Point’s stock broking affiliate, Centre-Point Investment Limited.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the University of Ibadan and a Master of Science Degree in Economics specialising in Monetary Economics from the University of Lagos. He has attended several courses in Multilateral Agency Credit Appraisals, World Bank Assisted Projects, and Corporate Finance. He is also an alumnus of the Lagos Business School Chief Executives Programme (CEP).

Mr. Okumagba is an authorised dealing Clerk of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. He is presently Vice-chairman, Bond Market Steering Committee (“BMSC”) as well as the Chairman of the Technical and Strategy Sub-committee of the BMSC. He has served as a member of the National Committee on Job Creation (NCJC). The committee was tasked with coming up with practical and specific interventions for ensuring increased job creation.

He is also currently serving as Chairman of the Human Capital Development Policy Commission of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, and Member, Delta State Economic Advisory Council. He was a member of the Presidential Committee on “Public Private Partnership (PPP)” for 104 Unity Schools in Nigeria, Council Member of the Nigerian Stock Exchange from November 2003 to September 2006, Council Member, Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers 1999 - 2006 and Chairman of the Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria from 2002 to October 2006.

 


Chibundu EdozieChibundu N. Edozie
Group Deputy Executive Director

Chibundu Edozie is the Group Deputy Managing Director of BGL Plc and in this capacity is in charge of its strategic business platforms which include BGL Investment Banking Group, BGL Asset Management Limited, BGL Securities Limited and BGL Private Equity Limited, as well as BGL’s international expansion.

A quintessential investment banker with close to 20 years’ experience, he has been at the forefront of key growth of the Nigerian capital market through the execution of landmark industry-defining transactions as well as his role in the development of the market through special committees he serves on. In 2010, he was appointed by the Federal Ministry of Finance to the Committee on the Review of the Investment and Securities Act (ISA). He is Vice-chairman of the Sub-Committee I (a committee to conduct the preliminary assessment of the ISA). He has also served in the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers on the Research and Technical Committee, Institute Membership Committee, Special Committee Investigating Financial Activities of the Institute, and the Special Committee Reviewing the Stockbrokers Act 2008.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Mining from the University of Jos. He is an alumnus of the New York Institute of Finance, the IMD International Institute, Switzerland, and the Lagos Business School. He is an authorised dealing clerk of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers and a past Member of the Governing Council of the Institute. He is also a member of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society.

Mr. Edozie currently serves on the boards of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp) Plc and Schatz Resources Limited. He also serves as a director on the boards of BGL Asset Management Limited, BGL Private Equity Limited and BGL Securities Limited, wholly-owned subsidiaries of BGL Plc.

 

 

Clara B. Mshelia

Clara B. Mshelia
Managing Director

Clara is the Managing Director of BGL Asset Management Ltd. Prior to that she held the position of Deputy Managing Director of the same company. Clara was also a Vice President of BGL Securities Ltd, holding the office of Chief Marketing Officer in the company's Northern Region. She has an LLB Law from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State and obtained a BL from the Nigerian Law School in 1998.

Prior to joining BGL Plc, she worked as a solicitor with Ricky Tarfa & Co Chambers and at Admiralty Fleet Limited as the Company Secretary/Legal Adviser. She has extensive experience in Investment Banking and Asset Management. She has attended various courses on the Nigerian Capital Market and Investment Banking including courses on client relationship management, how financial markets work, pension fund strategy, marketing and selling financial services, asset securitisation. She attended the Harvard Business School High Potential Leadership Programme in 2008. Clara is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and a Nominated Director of Schatz Resources Limited.

 

Ms. Abioye AdelekanMs. Abioye Adelekan
Assistant Vice President

Ms. Abioye Adelekan is an Assistant Vice President in the Investment Solutions Division of BGL Asset Management Limited. She has a BA Hons. degree in Accounting and Finance from Middlesex University, London and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Of England and Wales. She has over 13 years working experience spanning both international and local financial institutions. Prior to joining the BGL Group she worked with Weston Kay Chartered Accountants, London, Vetiva Capital Management Limited Lagos  and ARM Investment Managers Limited Lagos and  she has strong competence in the areas of  Portfolio Management, Research, Business development, Audit and Accounting.
